I thought the same thing. A person buying one now would be smart to keep the mileage low over the next three years. All it's going to take is something small to happen (either government legislation, or pubic opinion) to prevent something like this to be built again. Won't take much.

Even more so for the Charger if it's sold in lower numbers.

Jaguar F-Type Project 7

Limited production, timeless styling, no practicality, crazy performance.

I started a list of used cars that would be future classics before realizing you were asking for new cars. That list included the XJ-R, 280ZX, and NA Miata.

New cars? Classics tend to be from ubiquitous, well-known cars, but at their peak before the nameplate declines. There's a few cars that embody that:

500 Abarth

BRZ (more so than the FR-S for a few reasons, it's following the path of the NA miata, not the AE86, being a subaru-built subaru, instead of a subaru-built scion, means a lot)

370z Nismo (last 6 cylinder Z car)

2013/2014 GT500 (200MPH, last year of the "Shelby" GT500s, built/released during his death. I believe you can still buy 2013/2014 models new from dealerships, or at least very lightly used... could be wrong though)

Aston Martin DB9/Vantage (Some major changes are about to come for both MPG and safety requirements)

the Hellcat and the Alfa 4C, polar opposites yet both surprisingly owned by the same parent company

Cars are produced in such absurd numbers these days, I feel like any future classic would need to be relatively rare. That kind of narrows the list to unique editions of common cars (say Corvette Zora turns out to be a $200,000 MR super car) or other outrageous super cars (LaFerrari).

C6 z06. It is the last big displacement, all motor, Corvette that GM will ever make.

I never understood "all motor" to mean "naturally aspirated". That being said, I don't think it will hold much eminence as the ZR1 was also a supercharged 6.2l.

To me, "all motor" is not just naturally aspirated. It also does not rely on nitrous or any other "artificial" atmospheric enhancements.

As for its collect-ability. I cannot argue the superchargers are not great. But, big N/A motors are intoxicating to drive. The power is always there and the sound is incredible. It may not be the best corvette ever made, but it signifies the end of an era.
